Look Ma

Aunt Jennifer got Clay a "ride on push behind" toy and he has only been interested in chewing on the wheels. Until yesterday. All of a sudden it was the only thing in the room that existed. And he had to have it, crawl on it, chew on it, and ride on it!

It was too cute watching him sit on it - he held on for dear life for the first couple of minutes of sitting on it, but then he got a little too confident in his balancing skills. He actually said "look Ma, no hands!" and the proceeded to fall off. Poor little guy. He only fell a couple of inches, but I think it hurt him emotionally more than it hurt him physically. He was right back up within a minute wanting to get back on it and ride it around the living room!

He's such a little pre-toddler now. (Is that even a stage of life? I don't feel like he's a baby anymore, but he is definitely not a toddler yet.) He will ALWAYS be MY little guy. And I may always think in terms of him being a newborn, but the reality is - he wears size 12 month clothes, he protests when he doesn't like something, he crawls to things he wants, he protests when he doesn't like something, he laughs like a little adult when things are funny, he protests when he doesn't like something, he is a whole lot more independent now that he crawls, he protests when he doesn't like something, he is extremely strong willed and has a mind of his own. (Who does he get that from?) I love watching him grow!

On the eating front - He is still strictly breastfeeding. We had to supplement with about 4 ounces of formula a day for 2 weeks until I caught up. I now have a lot of breastmilk in the freezer so we are back to just feeding him breastmilk. (Which I am very thankful for that. I know I said I was okay with giving him formula, but it makes me feel a whole lot better that he is now only getting breastmilk again. Crazy, I know.) We offer him food every evening when we are eating dinner and he will sometimes taste whatever it is we offer. I have stopped trying to give him baby food, it was no use. He wants what we are eating, so, we give him what we are eating. I am not stressed about him eating (or the lack of), he will do it when he is good and ready. As he is with everything else - he will do it on his terms. (We have already started raising a very strong willed little boy!)
