Day One

This marks day one of "sleep training" in the crib. It may be that only naps are taken in the crib, but at least we are making progress!

I moved the crib into our room so I would feel better about Clay being in it. The goal is to get him in it at night. Eventually. I don't know if he's ready - be it that he eats through the night still. And honestly, (and probably more likely) I am not emotionally ready for him to sleep in his crib. I am comforted by him being so close to us in the bed. I love waking up and seeing him beside me. I'm (slightly) attached.

He has protested today about taking his naps and you will think I'm crazy when I tell you how I have actually gotten him to do so. (Oh well, add it to the list of things that may or may not make me crazy.) I have crawled in the crib with him, breastfed him until he goes to sleep, and then crawl out. He woke up the first time crying - he is currently sleeping in it right now, so, we will see what his disposition is this time when he wakes up. (Before you think I am putting my life or Clay's life at risk by getting in the crib with him remember that Casey built our crib - the platform for the crib is 2 inches from the floor and the mattress in in the low position. He built the crib so that Casey himself could climb in with Clay and sleep if that's what it took. After reading that I crawled in and out of the crib I thought I could clarify that it is on the ground and not up in the air like most cribs. I love it, by the way!)

We have a nap schedule - one Clay made for himself. 9am, 12pm, 3pm, and 6pm. With a tentative bedtime at 9pm. (He usually wakes up between 7am - 8am.) He requires quite a bit of sleep - his brain is doing a lot of growing!
