The Art

We sleep! Finally, we have mastered the art of breastfeeding while sleeping! Clay sleeps beside me (on the couch still, but we are coming up with ways to get back into the bed soon) and when he's hungry, he eats. I sleep for the most part. I wake up intermittently throughout the night (probably 1000 times) to make sure he's alright, but, amazingly, I feel extremely rested in the morning.

Previously, I was getting up every time he made a noise, Casey would change his diaper, get him good and awake in the middle of the night, and sit up to feed him. That worked until I realized that: 1. I was not ever going to get any sleep because that was a 45 minute long process 2. You should never, and I mean NEVER, fully wake a sleepy infant in the middle of the night unless you HAVE to 3. There was no need to change his diaper unless HE was adamant about it being changed and 4.Sitting up in the middle of the night to feed when you are exhausted could cause bodily harm.

So, we eat while semi-sleeping. And life is good! I am enjoying every day more than the last - looking forward to the next with eager anticipation!

If I haven't mentioned it lately - I LOVE being a mom to Clay. I mean really LOVE it. And I am so thankful that Casey is loving being a dad too - he's a natural.
