Diagnosis

Diagnosis: Viral infection and raw paws. That's right, you read it right.

Casey has been sick since this weekend with a viral whatchamacallit. Aka - he has a horribly sore throat, nasty green secretions, horribly stopped up yet runny nose, and a pretty nasty cough. The doctor said really to do nothing about it since it was viral but went ahead and gave him an antibiotic in case his snot turned green. Well, it turned green, so he has been on antibiotics for two days now! Hopefully on the mend! He is as sick as I have ever seen him.

Clay and I are okay so far - I wouldn't mind being sick instead of Casey, but I don't want our little guy to get sick. EVER!

Raw paws. An unfortunate incident happened yesterday with Taylor. It started Monday night when he wouldn't come in from the backyard. He loves to go out in the backyard during the day with Harper and I let him. I know he is far too fat to fit under the fence to get out, so what's the harm? Wrong. Apparently the cat found a way out of the backyard. I still don't know how he did it. He stayed out Monday night and Tuesday morning he was nowhere to be found. I knew he probably had not gone far so I wasn't all that worried about him. So, we went to get Casey's antibiotics from the pharmacy and as we are getting in the car I ask "Casey, don't cats sometimes get under cars when it's cold outside to stay warm?" To which he replied "Yea, but only when the engine is warm." And that was the end of the conversation. We get about 20 feet from the driveway and we hear a thump. Oh shit. It's the cat. He ran off from under the car and we chased him down, scooped his bloody paws up, and took him to the vet. Thankfully the only thing that happened was a little road rash on the paws. (Trust me, I feel horrible about the whole thing - raw paws sound terrible, but I also know that it could have been a whole lot worse.)

So, Casey was off Monday and Tuesday sick, the cat is banished to the garage for 10 days, and Clay and I are landscaping the yard today. We have had a good week so far, it's just been a little busy!
