Mobile

(This is going to be a bit if an update post. Where Clay is in his development, eating, mobility, etc. It will be interesting to look back at this one day and see what all he was doing and when!)

Over the holidays Clay learned to crawl! Christmas Eve at Bubba's house (Casey's uncle) I put him down on the floor and he took off. It was the first time that I actually saw him take off across the room. And he hasn't stopped yet!

It used to be safe to put him down on the living room floor and go into the next room - not anymore! He is all over the place! It is so cute! So, at 7 months and 3 days he learned to crawl! I am so proud of him!

The breast milk/formula mix is going well. He eats about 3 ounces of breast milk mixed with one ounce of formula at a time - still about every 2 hours. Thankfully it has enabled me to build up a reserve of breast milk again. He doesn't even seem to notice the formula anymore - I guess he assumes that his milk is supposed to taste like that now. (Again, thank goodness.) He decided yesterday that he LOVED rice puffs! They are sweet potato flavored and he loves them. We tried them last week and he would gag every time he put them in his mouth - progress! (He even got upset when they were all gone!) I am planning on making sweet potatoes tonight, cut them into hand size pieces, and let him eat them himself. (He still doesn't like to be fed, he wants to do it himself. It will make it easier for me, I guess!)

He is still in size 3 disposable diapers and large cloth diapers. I am not cloth diapering as much as I was before he got the stomach bug, but I plan on starting again soon. He poops at least 2 - 3 times a day, pees 50 times a day. (Well hydrated!) He ends up in 2 - 3 different outfits a day, not because I like to play dress up, but because when he poops it tends to get everywhere.

His favorite toys right now are his stacking cups, his stacking donuts, and a little fisher price guitar that he got for Christmas. I'm sure this will all change tomorrow as he is not showing too much favoritism toward anything but eating, sleeping, mom, and dad!

He continually says "ba ba, ma ma, da da" and squeals with excitement! It is so cute! He doesn't say ma ma and da da with acknowledgement of Casey or me, but it is still cute. Casey likes to have squealing contests with him - it is hilarious!

I love him more every day!
