New

We are delving into a new stage with Clay and I am loving it!

He is trying (and doing) a few new things! Exciting, big boy things! Now when you put him down on the floor, or on the changing table, or on the counter (for baths and with close supervision, of course) he tries to roll over from his back to his belly! His big 'ole fat arm gets in the way from him actually being able to make it onto his tummy! He gets all the way on his side, head turned and faced toward the ground, and can't quite get his little booty to roll over! He tries and tries and never gets frustrated - it is so adorable! He is showing us in so many ways how patient he is. (Thank you, Casey, for that virtue.)

He is also standing up on our lap and in the bathtub! (With us holding him, of course.) He has strong little (fat) legs! He kicks constantly when he's laying on his back. Soccer player maybe? Runner? Dancer? Whatever he does with those little chunky legs I'm sure it will be cute!

I have enjoyed the new, infant, little bitty, cuddly, but I am looking forward to what's to come! He is already growing up so much - doing bigger boy stuff! He will be sitting up, crawling, eating baby food, and walking before I know it! I love watching him learn. I love watching him grow. I am so excited about seeing him develop into a little man!

He has found his hands and often goes cross eyed looking at them right in front of his face. He also knows that they taste real good - especially when it takes a little too long for the bottle to get warm. He has them in his mouth more than anything - balls up those fat fists and crams them (enthusiastically) into his mouth. The. Whole. Fist. He tries at least to get the whole thing in his mouth. It's pretty comical to watch.

He tries to grab at things that are hanging above his head when he's on his back. He doesn't do it with purpose yet, but he's getting close. You can tell that he is interested in whatever is hanging, but doesn't know yet that he has control of his arms. (Must be strange to not know that you can actually control your body.) And he is so patient about it. He just keeps trying and trying. All without crying. (So thankful.)

He is a GREAT eater! He loves eating. I mean it. He has decided that bottle feeding during the day and breastfeeding at night is the way to go. (The lazy way to go if you ask me.) During the day he wants the volume IMMEDIATELY. He is so busy and doesn't have time to breastfeed during the day, I guess. Come 9pm - what the heck is a bottle? He turns his bottle switch off and he wants to breastfeed. IMMEDIATELY. He breastfeeds from 9pm to 7am (maybe two or three times during the night) and requires a bottle during the day. So, I pump and feed him. All is good. Producing enough for now, thank goodness.

He entertains himself a lot. Sometimes he will get fussy when you are holding him and all he wants is to be laid down by himself so he can talk and coo by himself! (With you looking right at him, of course.) He is a little entertainer! So long as you are looking at him, he is talking! It is cute! He loves his play mat and loves his swing more! (many naps have been taken in the swing.)
